Indian Coast Guard Selection Process

The candidate’s selection for a specific batch is only valid for that batch. To be considered for the position, candidates must pass the following stages.

Shortlisting of Applications (Stage 1)Shortlisting criteria will be based on a higher proportion of marks in the qualifying exam, and the qualifying cut off may be raised to more than 60% if more applications with higher percentages are received.

Preliminary Assessment Shortlisted candidates will be invited to Preliminary Selection at a specific time and date, which will include a Mental Ability Test/ Cognitive Aptitude Test, as well as a Picture Perception and Discussion Test. The aptitude tests will be conducted entirely in English and will be objective in nature. Candidates are expected to speak and discuss in English during PP&DT. They are, however, free to talk in Hindi if they so desire.

Final Selection

(Stage -II)Candidates who pass the preliminary round will be invited to the final round. The Indian Coast Guard will announce the date and location of the Final Selection Board (FSB) on its website.

A psychological test, a group task, and an interview will be used to make the final decision (Personality test). During FSB, all documents/certificates that were verified during PSB must be produced in originals.

Medical Examination

All candidates recommended by the Final Selection Board will be subjected to a medical examination at the nearest Military Hospital in accordance with current norms governing Assistant Commandant admission.(a) Minimum height of 157 cms. Candidates from mountainous and tribal areas would have their height reduced in compliance with Central Government standards.(b) Weight: Proportionate to Height and Age, with a 10% tolerance.

(c) Chest: Well proportioned, with a 5 cm minimum expansion.(d) Eye Sight: Uncorrected without Glass: 6/6, 6/9; Corrected with Glass: 6/6 6/6.f) Body art. On any region of the body, permanent body tattoos are not permitted.

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Salary

Promotions to the ranks shall be made in accordance with the established promotion standards. Assistant Commandant’s remuneration is based on Level 10, with a starting basic pay of Rs 56,100/-. In addition to the pay scale, various compensation and allowances are permissible according to the laws and regulations.
